Eat With Your Kids

Eat With Your Kids

Every semester we dedicate at least one class parent discussion to healthy family eating. Why? Simply put, research clearly demonstrates the positive connections between family meals and early brain development, overall health, and mental health outcomes.

This daily mealtime connection is like a seat belt for traveling the potholed road of childhood and adolescence and all its possible risky behaviors.

Putting this advice into practice is not so simple, right? We are all parents of young children and it is quite likely the picture above doesn’t quite capture a moment during your family’s dinner! Instead of feeling guilty about what we are not doing at home, let’s brainstorm together in class how we can all make small improvements in our family meal-time routines.
