07 Jun Positive Discipline: What To Say Instead of Punishing To Teach a Lesson
Every semester we dedicate one week to the topic of Positive Discipline. Just a reminder for TLC families: discipline means to “impart knowledge and skill – to teach”. Unfortunately, we often equate discipline with punishment and control. We have repeatedly (repetition is good for adults’ learning too!) discussed in class the importance of adults being a good role model for our children- calming ourselves- so that hopefully our little ones will learn over time how to do the same. This week let’s take this topic one step further- what could we say, in those challenging moments, when we need to guide our children’s behavior? Please read Dr. Laura’s five very helpful suggestions HERE.
